TRUECHILD SAYS:  The Fairly OddParents is a very popular show and features plenty of humor for the kids.  Timmy Turner is a very silly character (and we love the fact that he wears a pink cap!).  His babysitter Vicky is the main antagonist in the show and she follows in a long line of girls as big sisters, babysitters, etc who take on the role - it is a classic female archetype in children's television.

Timmy does not have much range in terms of his character.  His main objective in life is to get his Fairy Godparents, Wanda and Cosmo, to grant him wishes.  We do like Wanda and Cosmo because they are unusual characters in that they are adults but they have a goofiness about them that makes them silly, vulnerable and, ultimately, very endearing.

This is a show that is enormously successful and is patterned after other animated shows that came before.  We do not anticipate much in the way of changes to the basic characters or the storylines.  Perhaps, we might see some more female characters on the show that serve a purpose other than being annoying or having crushes but we don't anticipate it.
