A
TRUECHILD SAYS: What is great about Jimmy Neutron is that he is a nerdy character we love and admire. He is a character that shows kids that you can be smart and be fun and cool too. The show scores high marks in Skills and Intelligence because all of the characters - boys and girls alike - demonstrate a love of math, science and technology. In fact, one of Jimmy's arch rivals is Cindy Vortex who is equal in intelligence to Jimmy.

The show does have its shortcomings, however. The girls tend to not get featured as prominently and are often portrayed as antagonists, reinforcing the message that boys and girls cannot get along and relying upon the stereotypical female character who is bossy and annoying. The boys do most of the talking, acting and thinking which really leaves the girls behind.

We love Jimmy and everything he represents but hope that the girls around him will finally have the opportunity to show what they have to offer.
